Javier A. Morales, age 78, of Bear, formerly of Puerto Rico, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024.
Javier Morales had a career with DuPont PR, El DuPont of Nemours Wilmington, Delaware. After retirement he dedicated his years to help the veterans in Puerto Rico. For 10 years he was the President of the 65th Infantry Association in Puerto Nuevo, PR at the same time Javier was working with the Purple Heart Association in Yauco together with his brother Sergio Morales. Javier went all around the island to help with their benefits and helping them on getting the medals. Javier and Sam Rodriguez collaborated with a team to make sure that all the veterans would get the Gold Medal of Congress and Javier brought a group of veterans to Washington, DC. Together with Kiocha Yi from the Korean American Association of Puerto Rico they (Javier and Kiocha) took a group of Korean veterans from Puerto Rico to Korea. Javier brought a group of veterans to the Puerto Rican Parade in New York. He also was supporting the Program Health Care of Homeless Veterans of Puerto Rico. After retiring from the 65th Infantry Association Javier continued actively helping all the veterans that needed him from home. All of this was voluntary service.
Javier is preceded in death by his parents, Sergio A. Morales and Maria T. Gonzalez; brothers, Miguel A. Morales and his wife, Eleadina Hernandez, Alfredo Morales Gonzalez,; and first wife, Delia Esther Morales.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda Morales Rivera; his children, Wanda I., Javier A. Jr., Lynda I., and Erika R.; brother, Sergio A. Morales Gonzalez and his wife, Rosario Espino; sister-in-law, Bethzayda Morales Gonzalez; grandchildren, Maria, Anna and Phoebe and nieces and nephews, Miguel A. Jr., Wilfred, Daniel, Edwin, Samuel, Elizabeth, Betsy, Alfred, William, Jessica, Marcos, Ariel and Mikhail.
Services will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, December 20, 2024, at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 East Justis Street Newport, DE 19804, where visitation will begin at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road Bear, DE 19701.
