Jeanie Skilling, age 79 of Wilmington, transitioned peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2013. She was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland; then immigrated to Canada, and then settling in the United States in the late 1960s.
Jeanie was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon, choir member and Communion Bread maker. She enjoyed sewing, baking, knitting, gardening especially her roses, devoted to her family. Jeanie was known for her great sense of humor and was linguistically gifted. She was retired from Delmarva Power and Light in 1994 after 20 years of service.
Jeanie was preceded in death in 1997 by her husband of 41 years, William Skilling; sister Margaret Wilson; and two brothers, George and Jackie Jardine. She is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Jean Elder, and her husband, Dean; her son, George W. Skilling; her brother, Robert Jardine, and his wife Elaine ; a grand-daughter, Heather Jean Cederholm, and her husband, Steven ; two great grandchildren, Seraphina Jean and Genevieve Leigh Cederholm; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in the United States, Canada and Scotland.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, March 25 at the NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 East Justis Street, Newport De where visitation will begin at 5:30pm. Burial will be private
