Jeannette Holdren

Age 82, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 13, 2013. Daughter of the late John Patterson Bentz & Florence Pooler Emerich, she was born and raised in Philadelphia until she married her teenage love, Ray, and resided in Stanton, DE.

Ray and Jeannette moved to Christiana where they enjoyed the beauty of their new home which they turned into an oasis of trees, flowers and family. Their home was constantly visited by their family, where they enjoyed many holidays, barbecues and pool parties.

Tree seedlings always were saved, flowers & bushes flourished & all enjoyed the benefits of their vegetable garden. Jeannette especially loved the birds, cats and her dog, Sable, and also gave shelter and food to homeless cats.

Jeannette was a hard worker, many times working two jobs at once. employed by Peds in Newport, Ronsons near Christiana, Delaware Bag in Stanton & 23 years at the Sears Fashion Center in Newport, finally retiring when she was 72.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ray Holdren who died in 1999; her brother, David Bentz and her great grandson, Andrew Gott. She is survived by her four son's, Ray Jr., of North East MD, David of Newark DE, John of Cheswold DE and Paul of New Castle DE; her "brot" Paul E. Bentz of Vineland NJ; her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 11AM on Friday, January 18 in the chapel at GRACELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, N. DuPont PKWY, New Castle where visitation will begin at 10AM
