Jill Shumate

Jill passed away on Sunday May 3, 2015. A 1980 graduate of Wilmington High School, Jill earned a degree in Medical Technology from Del Tech. She worked for 25 years as a Med Tech until she retired due to illness.

Jill was preceded in death by her first husband, Mark Grzybowski and her parents, John and Alberta Dougherty. She is survived by her husband of 8 years, James Shumate, Jr.; her daughter Mandi Johnson (Brent); her sisters, Donna Zabielski, Linda Hanna (Al) and Janet Wickham (Jack); her brothers, John Dougherty, Jr. (Kathleen), Michael Dougherty and Kevin Dougherty; her nieces and nephews; her dogs Paco and Suzy and her cats Sox and K.C..

Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Friday May 15 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St., Newport where visitation will begin at 10 AM. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
