Artist and mental health therapist, Jo Ann Schneidman’s empathetic heart did not come to an end with her death. Jo passed away on August 29, 2023 at the age of 69, surrounded by loved ones.
Jo earned her Bachelors from the University of Southern California and her Masters in counseling from the University of Missouri and went on to work as a Mental Health and Substance Abuse counselor for over 40 years. She lived and worked in several states and abroad in Italy and the UK and spent her last 27 years in Wilmington.
She was very artistic and an avid crafter. Jo enjoyed making flower arrangements, scrapbooks, and ceramic crafts. She especially enjoyed giving her crafts away to family and friends.
Jo loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family and friends that were never made the same way twice. She jumped at the chance to teach her daughters the many tricks and secrets behind her heavenly fare.
Jo was born to and now preceded in death by her parents, Isadore and Mildred Freedlander on November 12, 1953; sister, Bryna Freedman; and granddaughter, Eirhianna Snyder.
Jo was married to former husband, Barry Schneidman for 39 years. Together they had two exceptional and quick-witted daughters, Alisa Schneidman and Bryna May (Jason). Jo is also survived by her gifted and talented grandchildren, Dylan Snyder, Tristan Snyder, Sophia May and Vienna May.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Nichols – Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 East Justis Street Newport, DE 19804, where visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.
