Joan passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2016.
Joan was a 1944 graduate of Conrad High School and a 1947 graduate of the Wilmington School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Wilmington Hospital until retiring in 1988. Joan enjoyed trips to the beach and puzzle books.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Christian J. and Gertrude A. Schranck; her brothers, J. Thomas Schranck and Joseph C. Schranck; her son-in-law, Jim Connell and her cousin, Betty Tolwinski Hughes.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Connell and her grandsons, Jimmy, Ryan and Sean Connell.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 1 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St., Newport, DE 19804, where visitation will begin at 10 AM. Burial will be at Wilmington & Brandywine Cemetery.
The family would appreciate contributions in Joan's memory to the American Diabetes Association , 100 West 10th St., Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE 19801.
