On Friday, September 15, 2023 John closed his eyes peacefully and joined his loved ones in Heaven. He was 76 years old and lived in Wilmington.
John was self taught general contractor. He owned Brittingham Construction for his entire career before he retired in 2018. John was a devoted Catholic. He was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church and a former member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
John loved spending time with his grandchildren and great granddaughter Gabbi. He enjoyed fixing things and was kindhearted.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Brittingham in 2021; son, John “Jake” Brittingham; granddaughter, Christie Riley; grandson, Anthony Brittingham and brother Billy Brittingham.
John is survived by his daughters, Debbie Riley (Michael), Kim Neel (John) and Sherry Brittingham; his siblings, Esther, Betty, Theresa, Charlie, Joey and Jimmy; grandchildren, Johnny Neel, Jeremy Neel and Hunter Steinmacher; and his great granddaughter, Gabbi Giles, and his beloved loyal best friend and dog, Onyx.
Services will be held at Noon on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Nichols - Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 East Justis Street Newport, DE 19804, where visitation will begin at 11:00 AM
