Age 92, of Newport, DE passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2010.
John was born in Chester County, PA where he lived until moving to Delaware in 1985.
He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church both as trustee and maintenance supervisor for many years. John was an Army veteran of WWII serving in the European Theater and was retired from West Chester University.
John was preceded in death by his 1st wife Matilda L. Dries and 2nd wife Dorothy Jones Dries. Survivors include his daughter, Lynn Phelps & her husband Lancelot of Middlebury, VT; his son, John, Jr. and his wife Geralyn of Bear, DE; 5 grandchildren Todd Phelps, Bryan Phelps, Joshua Dries, Seth Dries and Corinne Dries.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 31st at 11:30 a.m., at Grace Lutheran Church in Hockessin.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in John's memory to Grace Lutheran Church, 2033 Graves Road, Hockessin, DE 19707.
