John P. Grove, age 72, of Delaware, formerly of Philadelphia, fought a good fight but he went home to be with the Lord and angels on Friday, August 18, 2023.
John worked for Sun Chemical and retired after 37 years. He was a member of Deliverance Baptist Church. John played on the Society of Delaware’s Senior Softball Team and was also a softball coach. He loved slot cars but his main passion was his trains.
John is survived by his wife of 23 years, Deborah Grove; his daughter, Gabriell Grove; son, Johntae Grove; one brother, Adele Grove, one sister, Carol Grove, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild on the way, uncles, aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Nichols – Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 East Justis Street Newport, DE 19804, where visitation will begin at 10 AM.
