John K. "Reds" Hardy age 68 of Wilmington, passed away at home on Sunday, December 9, 2012.
Jack was retired from the Iron Workers Union, Local 451. He was an WWII Army veteran and a member of the VFW and American Legion. Jack was devoted to his family and enjoyed woodworking, small engine repair, hunting and fishing.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Joan, in 1990; his brothers, James and Hubert and his sister, Louise. Survivors include his children, John "Kenny" Hardy, Jr.; Karan Hardy-Boddy(Allen); Susan Keeler (Bob Sander); and James Hardy(Antoinette): his brother Oscar Hardy(Cletta); his stepsister, Lettie Myers; his stepbrothers, Jessie Hardy and Gene Hardy;his grandchildren, Denise Lavell, Donna Turner, James Hardy, Jr., Heather Hardy and Jeremiah Hardy; 9 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2pm, Sunday, December 16th at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St., Newport, where services will begin at 2pm.Burial with Military Honors will be at 11am, Monday, December 17th in the chapel at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.
The family suggests contributions in Jack's memory to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read's Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
