John was a loving and caring husband, father and Pop Pop.
John was preceded in death by his wife, of 33 years, Martha Hughes in 1996. He is survived by his children, Ernest & his wife Eileen, Karen Czerniak & her husband Philip, Daniel, Eric & his wife Susan; his brother, Leon; and 7 grandchildren, Katie, Billy, Sarah, Phillip, Jacquelene, Michael and Bryan.
Services will be 6pm, Monday, October 13, 2008, at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 E. Justis St., Newport, where visitation will begin at 4pm. Interment will be private.
The family suggests contributions in John's memory to the American Heart Association, 1501 Casho Mill Rd., Suite 1, Newark, DE 19711 or American Cancer Society, 92 Read's Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
