John A. Slavin, age 53, died unexpectedly at home on Friday, April 19, 2024. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware to William J. and Kathleen Jester Slavin. John attended St. Thomas School, Wilmington High School and Hodgson Vo-Tech.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother, William (Billy). He is survived by his daughter, Aughtum Slavin Magrane (Dave) and her twins of Rhode Island; his brother, Chuck Slavin and his sisters, Carol Towers, Kathy Littlefield (Bob) and Joyce Aiello (Joe), along with his nieces and nephews.
John was a jack of all trades working mainly in the roofing and kitchen and bath remodeling industry. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Oilers now the Tennessee Titans. He enjoyed cooking/grilling, had quite the sense of humor, loved music especially the Grateful Dead and traveled many places to see his favorite bands.
Services will be Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 East Justis Street Newport, DE 19804, at 7:00 PM. Friends may call at 6:00 PM.
