Joseph C."Mickey" McEnery, age 82, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Riverside Transitional Care.
Joe was employed by General Motors for 38 years before retiring in 1988. He was a WWII Army veteran, a member of VFW Stahl Post #30, FOE and a member of Holy Spirit RC Chiurch. Joe skated at Christiana Roller Rink on Tuesdays & Thursdays, with the Coffee Club; he also enjoyed riding his bike in Battery Park.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Josephine Lorenzo McEnery, in 1999. Joe is survived by his daughters, Marjorie Dougherty of New Castle and Mary Dierolf and her husband Gene of Newport; grandchildren, Victor A. Johnson(Ruthann), Richard L. Johnson(Julie), Kevin P.Dougherty(Mindy), Regina(Jerry) McClure, Joseph C. Dierolf (Michelle) and Eugene R. Dierolf; great grandchildren, Angelina, Josephine, Tristan, Adriana and Natalie.
Joe's family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Charles Hill and the staff at Riverside Transitional Care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11am, Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, 12 Winder Rd., New Castle, DE. Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Monday, April 7th, at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 E.Justis St., Newport. Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, Dupont Pky., New Castle.
The family suggests contributions in Joe's memory to American Diabetes Assoc., 100 West St., Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE 19801.
