Joseph H. Shaffer

Joe passed away peacefully on October 23, 2017.
Joe enlisted in the US Army soon after graduation. He was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood in MO, before proudly serving his country from 1957 to 1958 in Korea.
Joe worked for Budco Inc, bringing his family to Delaware in 1965. He was the manager of Pleasant Hill Drive In, Prices Corner In, and Cinema 141.
Joe was an avid football fan; from CB West, where he graduated from in 1955, to the University of Delaware Blue Hens, to the Philadelphia Eagles. He was also active in Stanton-Newport Little League for 10 years.
Joe is survived by his longtime love, Dorothy; his daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Kelly Taylor; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and sister, Robina Rutherford.
Joe is also survived by Dorothy's Children, Patti and Les Swartley, William and Patty Panglese, Michael and Kathy Panglese, Tina and John Ellis; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by his son, Michael Shaffer; his parents, Joseph and Janet Shaffer; his brother, Henry Shaffer and his sister, Janet Volz.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 11 at 1:30pm at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis Street, Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 12:30pm.
