Joseph R. Volk, age 82, of Wilmington, formerly of Scranton, PA, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023.
Joe was raised in an orphanage in Scranton, PA. He served 23 years in the Army and then worked in food service for the Delaware State Hospital for 15 years.
Joe liked volunteering at local food banks. He liked helping people and once helped the police identify a person in need. Joe also enjoyed collecting and shopping at thrift stores.
Survivors include his daughter Sara Volk (Jeri Haagenson).
Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Nichols - Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 East Justis Street Newport, DE 19804. Visitation will begin at noon.
