Age 86, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2008, at Heartland Hospice House. She went Home with dignity and grace surrounded by the love of her family. She lived a full life until losing her battle with lung cancer.
Josephine was born in Rockland, DE to the late Frank and Carmella Ramone. During WWII she was employed as a welder at Draco's Shipyard in Wilmington. Immediately after the war she worked at Doeskin Paper in Rockland.
Josephine married Harlan W. "Buss" Rovertson in 1946 and together they raised 4 children. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, camping bingo, crochet and cooking for her family and friends. Fresh flowers were a particular joy for Jo, with lilac and gardenia her favorites. After her husband's retirement, in 1980, they traveled the country wintering in Okeechobee, FL for many years before residing there permanently. She returned to Wilmington after her husband's death in 1995.
In addition to her parents, she was presdeceased by her husband, Harlan W. "Buss" Robertson; brothers, Michael, Anthony, Carmen, Frank, Manual and Louis; and sisters, Grace and Rose.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Bruce & wife Cynthia of Poulsbo, WA and their children, Erich and Louisa Burkentine; William of San Francisco, CA and his children, Pamela & William Robertson; Elizabeth Dale Burns & husband Harvey of Chuluota, FL and their children Ashley & Ryan Burns; Richard and wife Rebecca of Wilmington, DE and their children, Christopher, Sean, Rachel and Jonathan Robertson.
She was blessed with 4 great grandchildren.She is also survived by her brother, Patrick Ramone and sister, Carmella DiOssi & her husband Sandy, both of Wilmington; and many loving nieces and nephews.
We wish to express our sincere appreciation to family & friends for their support, guidance, companionship and your love that was given so selflessly. You truly were of great comfort to her. We also thank the kind and caring staff of Heartland Hospice House, who with a secse of humor and great compassion helped her maintain her independence for as long as possible and assisted us all through this long and courageous battle.
A memorial mass will be held 11am, Wednesday, July 9th at St. John the Beloved Church, Milltown Rd. at Sherwood Park, where vistation will begin at 10am.
