“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal”
Joyce “Joe” Rohm passed away on July 27th, 2024 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by his loving family, just a short time after losing his beloved wife of 67 years, Joanne.
Joe was born in Uniontown, PA on August 21, 1935 to the late Lawrence and Helen(Hershberger) Rohm and was a graduate of Uniontown High School. He met the love of his life in the early 1950’s at which time they moved to Delaware and were married on December 31, 1957 in Elkton, Maryland. Joe and Joanne went on and built a beautiful family together giving birth to a son Lawrence Kevin and daughter Jodi Lynn.
Joe was an employee of Chrysler for 30 years where he worked as a foreman on the line and then a security officer when he officially retired. His retirement was short lived once he took on a position being a driver with the blood bank of Delmarva where he took such pride in his job and the friends he made delivering blood up and down the state of Delaware. Joe was the only person that could be out of the country and run into someone that knows him.
Joe was the true meaning of a patriarch. He was infamously known for his trips to Delaware park where he would always place his bet on a Gray horse, his one of a kind club sandwiches, and his custom built birdhouses/wind chimes.
In addition to his wife and parents, Joe is preceded in death by his daughter Jodi Harrington and his sister Doris Hostetler.
He is survived by his son, Lawrence Rohm(Debbie).Grandchildren: Blake Rohm(Michelle), Michael Harrington(Stephanie), Rebecca Shankaras(Airiane), Brent Rohm(Valerie). 3 great children Jayden Rohm, Gianna Rohm and James Harrington. Niece Dawnie Mansberry( Michael) and loving friends Wayne and Karina.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of 6A and the staff of Accentcare Hospice at Christiana Hospital for their care and support provided to Joe and his family during this difficult time.
The family will be honoring Joe’s wishes and will not be having any services and would like for you to keep his memory alive with the unique stories and laughs you have had with Joe.
