Julia Ciemania Prove, age 94, formerly of Claymont, DE, died Thursday, March 24, 2011, at the home of her daughter Joanne in Marlton, NJ.

Mrs. Prove, who was a homemaker, performed in minstrel shows in Wilmington as a young woman, was 1st runner up for Miss Delaware in 1936 and modeled for Speakman Brothers Company. Mrs. Prove was a former member of Holy Rosery Church, where she was active in the Girl Scouts. She was devoted to her family.

Mrs. Prove was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Robert J. Prove, in 1990. She is survived by her daughter, Joanne; her grandchildren, Erica, Rande and Elise; and her great grandchildren, Blake, Brittany and Brody; her son, Robert A. (Susan); her grandchildren, Jonathan, Michael, Jennifer and Christopher; her daughter, Sandra (Glenn); her grandchildren, Lexie, Lauren and Robert; her brother, Francis; and her sisters, Elizabeth and Dora.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1 PM, on Friday, April 1, at St.Matthew's Church, 901 East Newport Pike, Woodcrest, De 19804. Visitation will be from 11:34 AM to 12:30 PM at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St., Newport. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery, Kirkwood HWY., Wilmington.
