Karen spread her wings and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, on her 37th wedding Anniversary, at Governor Bacon Health Center where she resided the past 11 years.
Karen retired from Zenith Products in New Castle around 2004. She previously worked Blue Chip Products in Elkton. She was a member of Cornerstone Church and was a 1974 graduate of Conrad High School, Karen loved to bake and cook with her husband. She was a devoted "mom mom".
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Esther McCready; her granddaughter, Destiny Leifheit; her brother, Richard Wright.; and her sisters, Charlene Field and Gloria Wright. Survivors included her husband, George H. Leifheit Sr.; her daughter, Michelle R. Smith; her son, Jeremy S. Leifheit; her sister, Rose M. Brinegar; her brothers, Thomas B. McCready, James M. Mc Cready and Carl T. McCready; 6 grandchildren; her sister-in-laws; her brother-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, July 22 at CORNERSTONE CHURCH, 3135 Summit Bridge Rd., Bear, DE where visitation will begin at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate contributions in Karen's memory to Governor Bacon Health Center, Delaware City.
