Laura J. Shivone Comegys Wise, age 99, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Reading, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2022.
Laura, one of ten children born in Wilmington to the late Louis and Johanna Shivone, was proud of her Italian heritage. Laura will be remembered for her delicious cooking, baking, and poetry. She enjoyed annual trips to New England and vacations at the Delaware beaches.
Laura was a waitress at her father’s Fairfax Restaurant before becoming a homemaker and raising her family, then became manager at the Cantina Restaurant. Her family will remember her as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Laura is survived by her children, Fred Comegys (Terry), Laurie Lynn Comegys and Mark Comegys (Letha); stepchildren, Jeffry Wise (Sharon) and Steven Wise (Sue); 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; sisters, Anita Brindle, Elaine Shivone, Patricia Ciccarelli and stepsister, Dolores Donovan.
Laura was preceded in death by her first husband, Frederick Comegys; second husband, Donald Wise; children, Terry Comegys (Pat), Randy Comegys (Patricia) and Lesli Comegys; and siblings, Lou, Ralph, Francis and Richard Shivone, Johanna Cullen and Thelma Baumback.
Services and burial will be private.
