Linda Heun

d. August 4, 2023

It is with the heaviest of hearts, that we are announcing the passing of Linda Ann Heun, of Newark, DE. She has gone to heaven for eternal peace after living with Dementia for so many years.

Linda is survived by her dedicated husband Bob of 49 years, her soulfull daughter Jaime and cherished son-in-law Gary and her two beautiful grandsons, Gian and Jace, along with countless family and friends who will miss her smiling face.

Lyn was born in 1950, in Hillside, NJ, daughter of Carole and Robert Fratello, sister of Susan. She grew from child to woman in Florham Park, NJ. It was in NJ that Lyn, a young insurance professional met Bob, the dreamy delivery man who stole her heart.

Lyn and Bob married in 1974 and settled down in Randolph, NJ to raise their daughter, Jaime. In NJ, Lyn built a beautiful life as a wife, mother, grandmother, and business owner. She had a strong faith and worshipped God weekly. She had the joy of family and friends surrounding her.

In 2009, Bob and Lyn moved to Delaware in anticipation of their retired days. In Delaware, Bob and Lyn met friends in their neighborhood that ultimately became more like family. Bob and Lyn could usually be found sitting on the porch, Tessa, their beloved dog at their feet, waving and chatting with their neighbors. This was common right up until the bitter end.

Though a resident of Delaware, Lyn was a true Jersey girl at heart. She was biased from NJ's pizza, bagels and many Italian delis. Lyn and Bob would often make the trek to NJ for Calandra’s bread and the perfect ripe Jersey tomato.

Lyn loved music like James Taylor, Tony Bennett and the BeeGees. She loved dogs. She was an avid NHL and NFL fan. She loved ice cream bowls at night while watching American Idol. Lyn was a professional shopper and had an affinity for strappy sandals and Kate Spade pocket books. She continued to find joy in decorating her home for holidays no matter the season. Lyn loved kids, especially her grandkids and found so much joy later in life in her second career as a preschool teacher in both NJ and Delaware.

Lyn’s favorite place in the world was the beach. Bermuda was always the front runner; however, if not available, Long Beach Island, NJ would do just fine! The portfolio of wonderful shore memories is too vast to sift through right now. Truthfully, it could take a lifetime.

In her final years, Lyn was surrounded by great care and support. Bob liked to think of all the support he received from hospice as angels here on earth helping Lyn to cross over in dignity and blanketed in love. Thank you, angels.

There is a hole in our hearts; however, we take comfort in knowing that she is at peace and has reconnected with the loved ones who have gone before her. They welcomed her with open arms, at the same time we bowed our heads in sorrow.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 pm on August 19, 2023 at Nichols - Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 E. Justis Street Newport (Wilmington), DE 19804. Visitation will begin at 2 pm.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lyn’s name to the Delaware SPCA.
