Louise Burton

Louise D. Burton, age 86, of Wilmington, formerly of Union, West Virginia went to be with The Lord on Thursday, December 26, 2024.

The daughter of the late Ira Russell and Mary Vivian (Reynolds) Dixon, Louise was born in 1938 and raised on Knobs Mountain in Union, West Virginia. She was Salutatorian of the of the Union High School class of 1955. Louise worked in banking before starting her family and becoming a homemaker. She enjoyed collecting bells, carnival glass and was an award-winning bowler.

Louise was preceded in death by her daughter, Debby Burton McCullom; her former husband, Omar Gentry Burton; her parents; her siblings, Velma, Bob, Leroy, Alan, Gene and Roger Dixon; Irene Anne Duffy and her sister-in-law, Nicole Gage Dixon.

Louise is survived by her sister, Margaret Turner; her children, Genny Rodgers of Sanford, North Carolina, David Burton, Mark Burton and Julie Dumire (Douglas) of Wilmington, Delaware; her grandchildren, Rachael Eller (Kevin), Linda Cartee (Michael), Rebecca Chalmers, James Drake, Jetty Karmes, Brian Hartsky (Kristel), Jesse O’Donnell, Daniel Rodgers, Grace Dumire and Rose Dumire and thirteen great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be at 12 noon on Friday, January 10 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 11 am. Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery.
