M. Wendell Nichols, age 67, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Denton, MD, transitioned to his eternal rest on October 7, 2020. Wendell was a 1971 graduate of North Caroline High School in Denton, Maryland. After graduation, he worked in textiles at the Dupont Company in Seaford, DE for 20 years.
After retiring from DuPont, Wendell relocated to Chester, Pennsylvania, before making Wilmington, Delaware his home. He worked with many companies. A few of his favorites were working at The Captain's Deck, as an administrative assistant, The Wilmington Senior Center, as an employment specialist, and at the time of his passing was the Transportation Coordinator for Beautiful Gate Outreach Center.
Wendell was very charismatic, had a great personality, and was loved by many. He loved to socialize and have a good time with his family and friends. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of a tournament league while working at The DuPont Company. He also enjoyed playing spades, listening to music, cheesesteak's from Claymont Steak Shop, anything chocolate, and road trips. Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Henry Nichols, Sr. and Genevie Patterson, and his brother, Miles Patterson, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his sister, Deborah Seth; his brother, Charles Nichols Jr; his nieces, Teresa Nichols and Angelina Seth; his nephews, Kevin and Aleidra Seth and Keith Seth; great-nieces, Danielle Nichols, Christina Nichols, Tiana Nichols, Jasmine Seth, Turquoia Dunn, Kiarian Seth, Keondra Seth, Diamond Seth; great-nephews, Kenneth Nichols, Bryan Seth, Devon, Devante, and Deveraux Nichols; great-great niece, LeAsia Nichols, Braelynn and Brihanna Seth; great-great nephews, Christian Gibbs, Tristan Nichols, Ethan Gibbs, Nyfesse Tucker, and King Dunn.
In addition to his family, he leaves his good friends, Richard Miller, Sandria Burton, Bill Redding, Suzanne Tait and a host of others. Funeral Services will be private. Visitation will be held for for family and friends from 4pm to 5pm on Saturday, October 17 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE, 19804 Masks must be worn and social distancing enforced including maximum of 60 people in the funeral home at one time.
