Margaret P. Szoo (nee Pizsik), died on December 13, 2020, surrounded by her family.
She was born in 1930 in New York, New York to parents who immigrated from Hungary. Margaret graduated from Hunter College cum laude in three years and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa society. She then earned a master’s degree in education from NYU. Margaret taught elementary school for nine years, but ran her family’s real estate business well into her eighties.
She was pre-deceased by her husband of 58 years, Joseph. She is survived by her daughter Laura Nystrom and her husband Jack and granddaughters Kristine and Victoria; and son Joseph and his wife Teresa and granddaughter Madeline. Margaret had many talents: a smart business woman, a great cook, a green thumb, creative seamstress, and above all else a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Funeral services will be private.
Donations may be made to a local hospice in her name in lieu of flowers.
