Marjorie N. Faux, age 84, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 12, 2011. Her daughters and daughter-in-law were by her bedside.
Marjorie was born in Newport, Delaware on July 15, 1927 to Donald F. Norris and Alda R. Norris. She graduated in 1945 from H. C. Conrad High School where she was head majorette and involved in numerous activities. Marge was an original member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, where she was active in Christian Education, and served as a deacon, an elder, and volunteered whenever and wherever needed. Throughout her life, Marjorie was an avid sportswoman who coached and played many sports.
Marjorie's mission was to better the lives of children. She founded Faux School in 1959 and served as administrator and teacher for 45 years. Marge was lovingly known as "Mrs. Faux" by the generations of children whose lives she touched. Prior to that, she worked for the Division of Social Services for 10 years.
Marjorie was a loving wife to her husband of 63 years, Thomas S. Faux, Sr. who passed away July 14th of this year. She was a wonderful mother to her children, Tom Faux, Jr., who preceded her in death in 2007, Judy Ashley, Karen Schaaf, and their spouses, Emma Faux, Jim Ashley, and Bernie Schaaf. Marjorie was a dedicated grandmother to her 8 grandchildren, Tom, Brian, Barry, Kevin, Jennifer, Cynthia, Keith and Samantha as well as her 15 great-grandchildren. Her brothers, Ben and Ray Norris preceded her in death. She leaves behind her sister, Alice Benson and her brother, Fred Norris.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm, on Friday, September 16th, at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 701 S. Maryland Ave., Wilmington, DE 19804 where visitation with the family will follow. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions, in Marge's memory, to Calvary Presbyterian Church or to A. I. DuPont Hospital for Children at nemours.org.
