Mary L. Jewell, age 96, of Wilmington, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2013.
Mary was a bookkeeper at Longwood Gardens for 20 years before retiring in the early 1980's. Prior to that she worked at MetLife in the 1950's.
Mary was a member of the Church of the Holy Child. She enjoyed playing bridge, music, dancing and having fun with her family and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Clarence "Pete" Jewell in 1981 . She is survived by her cousins including her caregiver, Mary and Joe Minnich, and their children, Christine, Joe, Jr. and Matt.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1 PM on Tuesday, November 26 at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Rd., Wilmington, where visitation will begin at 12 noon. Burial will be at Cathedral Cemetery.
The family suggests contributions in Mary's memory to the Delaware SPCA, 455 Stanton-Christiana Rd. Newark, DE 19713.
