Mary Stabley

d. April 30, 2024

Mary C. Stabley, age 77, of Wilmington, formerly of Baltimore, MD, transitioned on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
Mary attended Marks School of Cosmetology and Beauty where she became a cosmetologist. When her only son, Lou, was born, Mary relished being a mother. She was a hard worker, and was a manager almost everywhere she worked.

She moved to Delaware and raised her family in The Cedars neighborhood. Mary ran The Cedars Deli and the Cafeteria at Faith City School. She was the Operating Manager at Price Lanes and also worked in the banking industry before moving back to Maryland to care for her parents. While in Maryland she worked for Carney Animal Hospital. Mary married the love of her life, Phil and after her parents passing, returned to the Cedars in Delaware.

Mary was the office manager at Chrysalis Natural Medicine Center. She enjoyed working with and provided spiritual ministry to many of the patients and made some wonderful friends. Her passion was always helping others, whether by praying, cooking, counseling, and sometimes even giving them a place to stay. Mary was fantastic cook and baker, there was always a sweet treat or new recipe on her kitchen counter for anyone who stopped in to visit.

She enjoyed being a grandmom and was always available to spend time with her grandchildren. She took trips to Disney and St. John and always relished time spent with her family. She retired several years ago and was looking forward traveling and ministering to people. Mary and Phil enjoyed traveling to listen to their favorite preachers and were planning to purchase a mobile home for their future travels until her recent illness.

Mary was the daughter of the late Louis and Edna (Jeffery) Hartman. She is survived by her husband, of 33 years, Philip L. Stabley; her son, Lou Shockley (Samina); grandchildren, Samuel Shockley (Brianna) and Madison Shockley (Chris Gosik); great grandchild, Sienna Shockley; and her niece, Debbie Thoits.
