Michael Harp Evans, 62, of Newark, Delaware passed from pancreatic cancer on October 30. He was born in Ohio to Martha "Elaine" Harp and Oren "Babe" Evans.
Mike earned a BS in Paper Science from Miami University of Ohio, a Masters from the Institute of Paper Chemistry and an MBA from the University of Delaware.
Mike was a Group Leader at S. D. Warren. He was Manager of Coated Paper Technology at International Paper. At Xerox, he was the Product Development Manager. At DuPont, he was the Marketing Manager in TiO2 and the Senior Buyer. In retirement, he was the company owner of the Glass Guru of Newark and Spire Imaging.
Mike was a pillar of strength, quick to laugh and lend a hand. A gentle giant who never raised his voice. He had the zest to live a full and active life.
He enjoyed many sports including: sailing, hiking, biking, racquetball, handball, golf, frisbee golf, rock climbing and windsurfing. Mike was active in the New Castle Sailing Club. He served as a former Commodore, Safety and Instruction roles.
There can't be enough said about this brilliant man's life, from amusing anecdotes to wild adventures. Michael's life was full if not prolonged.
His passing is deeply felt by his wife Ruth, children Lindsey, Tim and Eric, grandchild Byron, siblings Chris and Elizabeth “Libbi “ and many others.
