Age 93 of the Newport area, went to be with God on Thursday, December 27, 2012.
Millard graduated from Goldey Beacom College in 1953 with an Associate's Degree in Sales Administration. He managed various Richardson Variety stores in the New Castle area.
Millard was a a WWII Air Force veteran, later transferring to the Army Combat Military Police Unit, to join his twin brother, Clifford. He served in the European and Pacific Theatres from 1942 till 1946. He was a member of the Peniel United Methodist Church, was Past Master of the Unity Masonic Lodge #32 F.M. & A.M., a 50 year member and past President of Minquas Fire Co. #1 where he was Chaplain Emeritus, and was Fireman of the Year in 1988. Millard was a ham radio operator with the call sign N3ZHB and a member of the Kent Amateur Radio Society in Chester town, MD.
Millard was preceded in death by his wife, of 62 years, Mary H. Widdekind in 2006. He is survived by his children, Marianne W. Crew (Richard Rossi); Susan W. Stuhlman (Bob); and Michael D. Widdekind (Joan); his grandchildren, David L. Crew (Peggy), Susan Lynn Mason (Sam), Brett Stuhlman (Michelle), Gregory Stuhlman (Madeleine), Matthew Widdekind and Andrew Widdekind; his great grandchildren, Daniel Crew, Patrick Crew, Jason Noonan, Christopher Mason, Sean Noonan and Robbie Mason; his sisters, Amy Smith and Gloria Wilson; and his sisters-in-law, Teresa, Kathryn, and Bobbie Dean.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday,
January 5th at PENIEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 115 E. Market St., Newport, where visitation will begin at 9:00AM. Burial with Fire and Military honors will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
