Pam Schweiger, 86, of Silview, DE departed this life at home surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, March 6, 2022.
Her career was varied, including positions at Gamaliel Brothers Deli, the cafeteria at St. Mark’s High School, a Girl Scout Troop Leader, and at the JC Penney cosmetics counter.
She spent much of her life as a homemaker, renowned for her talents as a cook and baker. Her widely shared recipes for meatballs, chestnut burgers, the world’s best sandwiches, coleslaw, ricotta cookies, coconut cake, chocolate cake, and fudge were passed down to younger generations as she shared her culinary skills with her children and grandchildren.
Her love of flowers and nature were expressed in the beautiful gardens around her home and doting on a long line of family pets and neighborhood dogs. Her unparalleled strength, tenacity, and fiery spirit are an inspiration to all who knew her. A caregiver and maternal figure to many, her heartfelt generosity will be missed just as much as her wiry sense of humor.
Pam is preceded in death by her daughter, Terry Schweiger, her grandson, her mother, sister, and brothers. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Frederick Schweiger, her daughter, son and daughter-in-law, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, her dear friends Marian Shelton, Juan and Claudia, many nieces, nephews, and other adoring neighbors.
Contributions can be made in her memory to Girl Scouts, animal shelters, or hospice.
Services were private, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
