Age 79, of Wilmington, joined her beloved son, Rick Barlow, and father and mother, Norman and Martha Rockey in heaven on Sunday, August 28, 2011 after a short illness.
Pat was born in Louisville, KY on July 4, 1932. She lived in Tampa, FL and traveled through the Orient before settling down in Delaware in the late 1960's. Pat taught Art Classes at the Boys Club in Elsmere and later owned Books and Things in the Community Plaza. She loved celebrating the holidays surrounded by her family, always cooking elaborate meals. You could always find her outside at midnight New Years Eve teaching her grandchildren how to bang pots to bring in the New Year. Her hobbies included genealogy, hand painting crafts, and cooking along with Julia Child.
Pat is survived by her three children, Michael Merrill, Debbie Mulvena and Melissa Lowry-Howland; her daughter-in-law, Patti Barlow; her eight grandchildren, Nate, Kris and Alissa Garyantes, Marissa Merrill, William Barlow, III, Morgan and Daniel Lowry and Hannah Howland; and her seven great-grandchildren, TJ Figueroa, Jayla and Amya Mercado, Tyler Forshey, Ruhie and Stella Garyantes and Ryan Perkins.
Services will be private. The family suggests contributions in Pat's memory to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read's Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19702.
