Phil died peacefully at home on Saturday, December 28, 2013.
Phil proudly served for 5 years in the United States Marine Corp. He was a life long volunteer at the Delaware Association for the Blind and was an umpire for 28 years in area baseball and softball leagues.
Phil is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie Ainscow Stewart; son, Phillip T. Stewart, Jr.; daughter, Susan Stewart; granddaughter, Emily A. Stewart; sister, Roberta A. Ruarke (Frank) and his best friend and “brother”, Arnold Saunders, Sr.
Funeral services will be 12 noon on Thursday, January 2 at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 1325 Barksdale Rd., Newark, De 19711 where visitation will begin at 11AM. Burial will be private.
The family suggests contributions in Phil’s memory to either Pilgrim Baptist Church or Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Rd, Wilmington, De 19810.
