Raymond Robinson

June 6, 1931 — February 4, 2011

Age 79, passed away on February 4, 2011 in the presence of his family.
He was the son of the late Harold T. Robinson, Sr. and Frances Grant Mitchell Robinson of Wilmington, DE. Ray wa a devoted husband to Edith Margaret (Peggy)Robinson; beloved father of, Linda Galloway and Sharon Hobson. Ray will be missed by his brothers and sisters, Richard, Burton, William, MaryEllen Morano and Donna Corcoran; and many nephews and nieces.
Ray was precedeaded in death by his brother, Harold T. Robinson, Jr.

Ray entered the US military in 1948 at the age of 17. While serving with First Cavalry Division 8th Regiment during the Korean War, he was wounded three times and finally captured when the Chinese Communist forces entered the war and overwhelmed Ray's regiment at Unsan. He was held as POW at Pyoktong along the Manchurian border until his release.

After his discharge from the Army, Ray and Peggy settled in Elsmere, where he had a 40 year career as an electrician with the DuPont Company. After retiring he and Peggy moved to Captains Cove and spent 21 years on the Chincoteague Bay in Virginia.
Ray was a member of Union Methodist Church in Greenbackville, VA. He was a life time member of Ionic Masonic Lodge #31 in Newport, DE and the Accomack Masonic Ledge #243 in Chincoteague, VA. He was also a 32 degree Mason in the Scottish Rite, past President of the Green Hill Delaware Lions Club and a Ruritan in the Atlantic District serving as an officer and on the board of directors. Ray was an active member of the American Ex-POW Delaware, Chapter #1. Ray enjoyed playing Santa Claus for multiple church youth and senior groups.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ray's life at a service on Sunday, February 20th at 2:30 p.m. at the Westminster Village Community Center, 191 Westminster Drive in Dover, DE.
