Rebecca Merrill

Rebecca J. "Becky" Merrill, age 78, of Wilmington, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024.

Becky graduated from Henry C. Conrad High School. She was the first female toll taker hired at the Delaware Memorial Bridge in 1982 where she worked for several years. Becky loved gardening, puzzles, and coloring books in her older years. She was devoted to her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, W. Edward Merrill and Eleanor Merrill.

Survivors include her daughter, Julie Conner (Rich) and Ed Conner (Corinthian); sister, Bonnie Merrill Haines (Alan); grandchildren, Shannon Kitchen (Chris), Josh White, Holly Conner and Eddie Conner; great grandchildren, Jaela Kitchen, Stefan Kitchen and Elijah Kitchen and her life long best friend Grace Valentine.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Monday, August 26 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 10 am. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
