Richard Barone

June 8, 1956 — March 16, 2022

Richard Joseph Barone, age 65, of Wilmington, Delaware, formerly of Mantua, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 with his wife by his side.

Rich was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the youngest of three children born to Vincent Joseph Sr and Florence (Bernal) Barone. He grew up in New Jersey and attended Clearview Regional High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Denise Johnson. Although the two went their separate ways, they reconnected years later. Rich finally married his true love in 2013.

Rich was honorably discharged from the United States Navy where he served on nuclear submarines. While in the Navy, he studied hard to get a degree and become an Avionics Engineer. Rich went on to work for various aviation companies including most recently Dassault Falcon Jet. His love of airplanes lead him to getting his pilot license. He enjoyed flying and spending time with his fellow pilot friends.

Rich loved the area of San Diego, California and enjoyed traveling there with Denise to spend time with his cousins. He was an avid reader and loved animals, especially Rottweilers. Being a big Philly sports fan, Rich had Flyers season tickets for years and would attend Eagles games as much as possible.

Rich had a big heart but will probably be remembered more for his no nonsense attitude…he never held back his opinion and told it like it was.

Richard, Rich, Uncle Ricky and Bone will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Rich is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, RoseAnne Centuolo and brother-in-law, Michael Joseph Centuolo.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 8 and a half years, Denise Barone; brother, Vincent Joseph Barone Jr (Brenda); nieces and nephews, Michele Pierce (Blair), Antoinette Majerus (Mark), Vincent Joseph Barone, III (Taylor), Nicholas Anthony Barone (Catherine) and Edward Dempsey, III.; mother-in-law, Jane Johnson (the late Richard Johnson) and sister-in-law, Karen Dempsey (Edward).

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Rich’s name to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 669, New Castle, DE 19720, www.cancer.org.
