Richard W. Dierolf Sr, age 76, of Wilmington, passed away at home after a long illness on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.
Rich was a 1967 graduate of Henry C. Conrad High School. He served in the Army where he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Rich worked as a splicing technician for Diamond State Telephone which became Bell Atlantic and then Verizon.
Rich was a lifetime member of Minquas Fire Company 23, an active member of Defiance Athletic Association, The Newark Anglers Association (Fishing Club) as well as a former member of the St. Anthony’s Club and the Townsend Sportsman Association. He enjoyed golfing, watching wrestling, and was an avid Steelers fan along with the Phillies and Flyers.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Eugene Dierolf Sr, his in-laws, Harry and Cora Williamson, and sister-in-law, Mary Dierolf.
Rich is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Gail M. Dierolf; son, Richie W. Dierolf Jr; grandson, Landon Dierolf, brother, Eugene R. Dierolf Jr; sister, Carol A. Mirabella (Dave); brother-in-law, Mark Williamson Sr (Sue); niece and Goddaughter, Gina McClure (Jerry); nephew and Godson, Eugene Dierolf III (Julie); as well as nieces and nephews, Steven Belford (Julie), Caren Robbins, Joseph Dierolf (Michelle) and Mark Williamson Jr; many great nieces and nephews, extended family, and close friends, and his beloved German Shorthair Pointer, Gabby.
Funeral Services will be at 12 noon on Tuesday, June 4 at PENIEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 115 E. Market St, Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 11 am. Burial will take place at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 24, 2024 at the DELAWARE VETERANS MEMORIAL CEMETERY, 2465 Chesapeake City Road Bear, DE 19701.
