Richard Ellis, Sr.

Richard went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 21, 2014. Richard was a first class welder for Zallea Brothers for many years. Richard attended Wilmington Church of God where he was a member of the men's group. He enjoyed fishing, drawing and painting; watching horror movies and comedies; and played the banjo and the harmonica.

Richard was a U.S. Navy veteran where was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal (4 stars), China Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal; European Theater Ribbon, Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Maggie L. Ellis who passed away in 2009. Survivors include his children, Julia Belleman, Raesha Clark, Richard Ellis, Jr., Woodrow Ellis, Virginia Nickle and James Ellis, Sr; 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
