Age 95, passed away peacefully at his home on July 7, 2012.

He was surrounded in the love of his entire family; his wife of 58 years Viola; his 6 children, Mimi, Paula, Michael, Eve, Abby and Andrea; 9 grandchildren, Michael, Erin, Charles, Andrew, Alexa, Ben, Eli, Ruby and Margo; his daughters partners, Terry, Jeff, Kaz, Ken and Jim.

He was born in Canton, Ohio the eldest son of Michael and Ida Luckring and brother to Mary, Bill and Louise. Dick was educated as a chemical engineer and had a successful career in research and management for 39 years at the Dupont Company. After he retired he had more time to pursue his creative passion for art, gardening and music. He remained dedicated to his piano playing even after losing his vision to macular degeneration.

He was a volunteer at the Delaware Association for the Blind and advocated on behalf of the visually impaired. His sincere interest in people and his fascination for life never faded.

On Thursday, June 12th, a memorial mass will be held at St. Mary's of the Assumption Church at 11am. The family will begin receiving relatives and friends at 10am. A luncheon will follow at 12:30pm at Hockessin Memorial Hall.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Delaware Association for the blind.
