Age 66, of Newark, DE, went to be with the Lord on, Sunday, December 28, 2008.
Smitty worked as head mechanic at AMF Price Bowling Lanes and Pike Creek Bowling Center for about 50 years. He enjoyed fishing, going to Lancaster with his graddaughter Shakila, watching wrestling and Eagles football.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Elizabeth Smith, in 2000. Smitty is survived by his children, Patty A. Almazan (Alex) and Richard D., III; sisters, Ruth Ann Smith & Emily Stacy; half brothers & sisters, Robert Quinn, Cathy Souder, Carolann Quinn, Eugene Quinn and Tommy Quinn; 3 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be 11am, Friday, January 2, 2009, at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 E. Justis St., Newport, DE, where visitation will begin at 10am. Interment will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Ave., Wilmington, DE.
The family suggests contributions in Smitty's memory to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read's Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
