Rosalee Walker

Age 75 of Newark, formerly of Trenton, NJ, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Christiana Hospital after a long illness. Rosalee was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and god mother. Rosalee was first lady of Northside Church of God Inc in Wilmington, Delaware where she served as a choir member, treasurer, soloist and the executive chef for the church as well as the district. Rosalee also sang at and was an events planner at the National Conventions. Rosalee will be remembered for her incredibly compassionate and generous nature. She was a dedicated volunteer in polling places and a talented seamstress. Rosalee also enjoyed traveling and shopping.
Rosalee was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa Smalls; father, Rev. Samuel Key Sr; stepmother, Lila Key, sister; Gladys Key Moultrie, and brothers, Charles, John Mark Key, Sam, Jr., Moses, and Rev. James Patrick Key.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Rev. Richard L. Walker Jr; daughters, Monica Fort and her husband Jay, Cheryl Walker, and Michele Walker; grandchildren, Leah Walker, Jerry R. Fort and Brandon P. Fort; great grandchildren, Mikayla R. Fort and Ethan D. Walker. Her three sisters, Ramona and her husband Thaddeaus Riggins, Mary and her husband Douglas Powell, and Rev. Lois and her husband Elder Leon Alexander; her brothers, David, Nathaniel, and Thomas; god daughter, Heather Beal and a host of other god daughters, relatives and many friends.
Services will be Friday, May 31st at New Community Church, 116 W. 41st Street, Wilmington, Delaware 19802 at 11:30 AM. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. Burial Will Follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
