Roy M. Adams of New York City and formerly of Newport, DE, age 74, died on August 11, 2014. Roy was a respected and admired writer, advisor and speaker in the areas of estate planning, trusts, public charities and family foundations. Over a lengthy career, he served as senior partner in the law firms of Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, Schiff Hardin & Waite and Kirkland & Ellis. Roy taught for over 25 years at Northwestern University School of Law, where he was a Professor Emeritus of Estate Planning and Taxation. A member of ACTEC, Roy also authored numerous articles and books on estate planning and advising the wealthy, including "Wit and Wisdom The Best of Roy Adams." A caring friend to both people and animals, Roy is survived by his sons, Daniel Adams and Oscar Castro Adams, and by a half-brother, Glen Adams. Funeral services will be private.
