Ruth Hall

February 6, 1907 — December 12, 2009

Age 102, of Silview, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2009.

Ruth dedicated her life to helping many people. She was a longtime active member of Peniel UMC, where she started the Silver Saints and was a member of the Ruth Circle.Ruth was instrumental in establishing the VA Hospital in Elsmere. She was a member of AARP and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Ruth and her late husband Walter often visited soldiers at local hospitals, children at Governor Bacon Health Center and Emily Bissell Hospital. Beginning at the age of 10 she knitted hats for the soldiers in all wars including the two current wars and was awarded a certificate from United States European Command office of the Command Chaplain. Ruth also knitted lap robes for AI Dupont Children's Hospital and for anyone who was in need.

Ruth adopted many from her neighborhood who loved and cared for her like family including, Tina and Gary Cole, Bill and Kathleen Hackendorn and Amanda Lane who she called her 'Little Angel'.

Ruth's family and extended family would like to give special thanks to Cherin Anderson whom cared for her and the Seasons Hospice Nurses.

Funeral services will be 11"00 am, Wednesday, December 16th, at Peniel United Methodist Church where visitation will begin at 10am. Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery, Lancaster Ave., Wilmington.

The family suggests contributions in Ruth's memory to Peniel UMC, 115 E. Market St., Newport, DE 19804.
