Sean Philip Sebastian Buckley, 44, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away suddenly on June 27, 2022. Sean was the first born on Christmas Eve, December 24,1977 followed soon after by his triplet siblings, Erin Buckley (Goulder) and Tom Buckley. He was the loving son of Jean Phillips Buckley and Jack Buckley.
Sean went to St. Mark’s High School and Widener University. He was a helper and caretaker who always looked out for others. Sean loved to joke around and play pranks.
Sean is missed tremendously by his nieces: Rebecca Buckley, Brightly Goulder and Haven Goulder, and his nephew: TJ Buckley. Sean adored playing with them, and would often make stuffed animals talk, among other silly and fun antics. Sean is also missed and loved by his stepmother, Judy (Jack) Buckley, brother-in-law, Jeremy (Erin) Goulder, Aunt Eileen and Uncle Gene Craft, Aunt Maureen Ahern, Uncle Thomas Buckley, 10 cousins, their loving spouses and children, and his friends.
His family imagines that Sean is now laughing with, and loving on, his family who have previously departed; his grandparents: Thomas Buckley, Sr., Mary Peyton Buckley, John Phillips, Sr., and Regina Conway Phillips; his uncles: John Phillips, Jr., Frank Phillips, Jack Ahern, and Stanley Podczasy; his aunts: Doris Podczasy and Ann Phillips Della Polla; and his cousin: Tommy Coppick.
Sean displayed a fierce curiosity and creativity at a young age, and as a kid of the ‘80s, he loved to take electronic things apart and put them back together again, or create something new. He even experimented with his food, mixing mashed potatoes, peas, and mustard together. He covered everything with mustard despite his family’s cringes.
Sean loved holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas. He had an extensive rock collection that was only rivaled by his Tetley Tea Bag Tag collection. (Some things are not meant to be understood.) Sean had the best long eyelashes and his Mom called him “Spider Eyes!”
As an adult, Sean’s curiosity led him to a career in information technology. He had a little notebook on his desk where he wrote new ideas and inventions. His need to cover everything in mustard matured into a taste for Hellman’s Mayo.
Sean was uplifting, encouraging, and a great listener. But more than simply listen, his loved ones felt heard and understood by him. Sean never said a bad word about anyone. Those who knew Sean called him incredibly kind, endlessly patient, positive, peaceful, empathetic, and sweet.
His niece Becca and nephew TJ say, “Uncle Sean was funny and a nice person.”
His niece Brightly says, “He’s funny and cute. Uncle Sean is silly and loves monkeys.”
As Morpheus said in The Matrix, Sean’s favorite movie, “There's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.” Here on earth, Sean walked the path. He will be missed immensely by all as he explores his next one.
