Shirley Mcknett

Shirley, of Wilmington, formerly of Easton, MD, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015. Shirley was a 1945 graduate of Easton High School. She worked at the DuPont CO for 15 years, then worked for Sears on MacArthur Drive before retiring from Discover at the Corporate Commons in 1992.

Shirley was a long time active member at Peniel United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Silver Saints and the United Methodist Women, Eve circle. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star Five Points Chapter No. 13. Shirley was a 50 year member of the Grand Chapter of Delaware.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Leonard P. McKnett, Jr. in 1982 and by her sister, Aileen Moore. She is survived by her daughter, Laura M Patterson (Dwane); her grandchildren, D.J. Patterson and Wesley Patterson; her sister, Page Muirhead and nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 PM on Sunday, August 2 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St., Newport. Graveside services will be at 12 Noon on Monday, August 3 at Spring Hill Cemetery, Easton, MD. Memorial Services will be at 1 PM on Thursday, August 20 at PENIEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 115 E. Market St, Newport, DE 19804.
