Sophia Macon

January 7, 1949 — November 7, 2010

Our dear sister and friend Sophia fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday, November 7, 2010.

Sophia left a living legacy of friends and family. Survivors include her aunt Beatrice Green; 4 siblings, Willie Cook, Jr., Katherine Laskey, Bertha Cook and Lillie Cook; and a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins.

Sophia was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Levornia Cook; her husband, James Macon and 7 siblings.

Sophia coordinated home bible fellowships with her husband in California and Atlanta, GA and for over a decade has led a bible fellowship with her sister Lillie in the Delaware area. She was also actively involved with the Breast Cancer Association of Delaware and was the first MAAM coordinator.

Sophia is most fondly remembered for her love of fashion and helping women feel good about themselves. One of her favorite quotes was "it is a blessing to people when you look good". As a Delaware fashion consultant for WEEKENDERS USA, she lived out that passion.

Sophia was a gifted aesthetician and therapeutic masseuse, practicing her skill at The Massage Center of Delaware in North Wilmington.

A wake for Sophia will be held on Tuesday, November 16th from 6 to 8:00 p.m. with a memorial service on Saturday, November 20th from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Somerset Lake Club House, 1 Club House Drive, Landenberg, PA 19350. Repast immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Sophia's memory to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810.
