Susan O'Connell Ciotti

Susan O’Connell Ciotti, lifetime resident of Wilmington, Delaware passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, age 56. Susan was predeceased by her father, John J. O’Connell and mother, Dolores O’Connell. She is survived by her loving sons Julian and Gianni Ciotti, and siblings John O’Connell (Sandy), Rosemary O’Connell, Kathleen Karcich (Andrew), Daniel O’Connell (Barbara), Colleen O’Connell, Jeffrey O’Connell, Jacqueline Del Pizzo (Michael), and Coley O’Connell. At the time of her passing she had numerous nieces and nephews who will always remember the fun times with their Aunt Susie.

Susan loved to laugh. Charles Dickens wrote in "A Christmas Carol" that "there is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humor." And this is the way Susan lived her life. She was the comedian at family get togethers and holidays, using that wicked sense of humor to get us laughing so hard that we couldn't breath and finding something funny even in the little things. "Aunt Susie" was always the fun auntie to all her nieces and nephews, probably because she had a childlike spirit herself. And even in her last days, she was cracking jokes with the doctors and nurses, making fun of herself, and laughing about how bad her hair looked (it looked great). If Susan laughed deeply, she loved even deeper. She loved her friends and family, her sweet dog, Nana, and most importantly, her two sons, Julian and Gianni. She was so proud of what fine men they had grown to be. She will be greatly missed by all.
