Terri LeHane Quinn of Wilmington passed away December 2, 2013. Terri was born February 27, 1935, at Dr. Ronitti’s Hospital on Washington Street to Louis A. LeHane and Naomi J. Minors. She was raised by her Aunt, Elizabeth M. Grubb.
She graduated from St. Peter’s Cathedral School (1949) and P. S. DuPont High School (1953).
Terri changed her career path every ten years. She worked in the retail business both selling and in offices. She received a certificate from Goldey Beacom in Real Estate Sales and Practice and was employed by Triangle Realty. Next came the hospitality industry acting as a server, bartender, mutual clerk at various hotels, restaurants and race tracks (Brandywine Raceway, Delaware Park, Dover Downs, Harrington Raceway, Hialeah and Penn National).
She then became a retail florist, operating a shop on Maryland Avenue and relocating to the Philadelphia Pike called Terri’s Floras. She gave a talk at the Philadelphia Flower Show during this period, became a Bonsai specialist and initiated Plant Parties in the Tri-State area.
Terri spent two years living and working in Frankfurt, Germany, when her daughter, Andrea, was deployed there with the US Army. She worked concurrently with the American Library located on Drake-Edwards Kaserne Base and as a nanny for a German doctor and his American wife. She provided floral arrangements for the American Chapel on a volunteer basis. The library is where she met her husband-to-be, Stephen D. Quinn. They moved to Florida upon their return to the United States.
The couple moved to Wilmington, Delaware. Terri enrolled at DTCC for Travel and Tourism I, II, III, and received certificates. She became a member of the American Society for Travel Agents receiving certification in such specialties.
Terri had many other occupations over her lifetime including work with the Census Department and as a demonstrator in grocery stores.
She was an avid animal lover.
Terri was predeceased by her daughter, Andrea, and three of her sons, Kevin, Mark and Dennis. Terri will be sadly missed by those who loved her. She leaves behind an ex-husband, Steven; a grandson, Matthew J. Dillon Jr.; a cat, Satine, and many friends.
As was her wish, no service was held for her. She will be interred at the Arden Memorial Garden.
Donations in her memory may be made to Sojourners Place or Faithful Friends.
