Virginia "Ginny" Kay Carrere, age 70, of Newark, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024 in the presence of her loving family.
Ginny was born in West Virginia and grew up in California where she graduated from Canyon High School. She retired as a Teamster from The Port of Wilmington. Ginny, who was known for her free spirited personality, enjoyed gardening, caring for her house plants and cooking. She loved music, history, art, classic films, and keeping informed on current events around the world. Ginny was especially proud of her University of Delaware, College Sophomore Granddaughter and was never shy in letting others know just how proud she was of her granddaughter’s aspirations.
Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Carrere and Phyllis Bedell.
Ginny is survived by her loving daughter Lindsey Rose Varites; granddaughter, Ashley Leanne Varites and other extended family members and beloved furbaby, her dog Princess.
A Memorial Service will be on Thursday, September 19 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 6 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 7pm. Burial will be private.
