W. Len Finerty

Len, a lifelong resident of Wilmington, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015.

Len retired as a Lab Tech from ICI in 1990 after 37 years of service. He also worked for many years at both Brandywine Race Track and Delaware Park. Len was a 1950 graduate of Henry C. Conrad High School. He was a member of the Armstrong Masonic Lodge #26 in Newport. Len enjoyed visiting Delaware Park race track, playing cards, metal detecting, cars, motorcycles and most of all walking in Banning Park with his friends and his dogs.

Len was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Joan in 2007 and his daughter, Linda McCurdy in 2014. He is survived by his son, Bill (Dale); his daughter, Robin "Rose" Finerty; his grandchildren, Will, Kiley, Mickey, Deanna and Kevin; 7 great grandchildren and his beloved dog, "Vernie" as well as Zane and Ginny.

Funeral Services will be 6pm on Thursday, February 5 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St., Newport, where visitation will begin at 4:30pm. Light refreshments will be served. Burial will be private.
