Wendy, age 55, went home to be with the lord, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with lung disease. Wendy was a loving mother, wife, and friend. She dedicated more than a decade of service to the New Castle County crossing guards. She was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church. She loved animals and rescued many over the years but she held a special place in her heart for her beloved and loyal companion, Bear. She had an enormous heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand in any way she could. She always put the needs of her loved ones before her own. But, above all else, she loved and cherished her family.
Wendy was the daughter of James M. Crossan (deceased) and Susan Diamond. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, James A. Focht Sr., her 6 children, Robert Meadows, Jessica Gestwicki, Adam Meadows and girlfriend Jennifer Seppanen, Patricia Meadows and fiancé Michael Vacca, Katlyn Meadows, James Focht Jr., and 3 grandchildren.
She is also survived by step mother Dorothy Crossan, special cousin Stephanie Sweetman, Brother Ricky Crossan, and sister Carol McMasters. As well as many other family members and friends.
Special thanks to Heartland Hospice staff for supporting Wendy and her family for the past several months and through her final moments. Specifically, Nurse Jane Thompson, caregiver Denise Graves, Chaplin Robert Harting as well as Chaplin MyRon Smith and the officers and members of Delaware Veterans post #1.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday 12/06/2016 from 6 to 8 pm at Cornerstone UMC – 3135 summit Bridge road bear, De 19701. Services will be held on Wednesday 12/07/2016 at 1 pm at Cornerstone UMC. Interment will be at Delaware Veterans cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, family requests, that donations be made, in Wendy’s name, to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
